While record labels have been largely slow in taking advantage of the internet, musicians have been fairly quick off the mark, realising the massive marketing potential available to them by hosting their music on websites. The Web 2.0 revolution has pushed this marketing potential to new heights, and now musicians are hosting their music on social networks such as MySpace, posting music videos on YouTube, and selling their music via online stores such as the iTunes Store using services such as CD Baby and Tunecore to get their tracks into the stores.
