Perfect Harmony
Take your tunes to the next level by introducing a harmony part or two. Keith Gemmell explains how to score harmonies for vocals, horns or strings.

Musical harmony is a vast and complicated subject – very weighty tomes indeed are available for the serious and devout student. And if you want a thorough knowledge of harmony, we heartily recommend that you read at least one of them. That said, there is no reason why rock and pop musicians lacking this skill need shun the idea of adding a few horns or strings to their tracks, particularly if they’re crying out for them. In fact, if you can hear the main melody in your head, then you’re already well on your way.
