Pro Tools' Bomb Factory plug-ins
Digidesign’s free Bomb Factory plug-ins add a vintage quality to almost any production. Mark Cousins gets re-acquainted with some old friends…
In recent years Bomb Factory has acquired an enviable reputation for producing some of the finest-sounding RTAS plug-ins. Unlike the more futuristic designs offered by other plug-in manufacturers, Bomb Factory’s approach is distinctly retro, with many plug-ins modelled on classic hardware devices from the 60s and 70s. Plug-ins such as the Teletronix LA-2A and the Moogerfooger Filter model the exact audio qualities and anomalies of their original counterparts and produce almost indistinguishable results. Bomb Factory’s plug-ins may not offer the range of controls and features found on many other native plug-ins, but they do offer a classic, dependable sound and functionality – a bit like Pro Tools itself.
