Prodigy’s latest release coincides with a rejuvenation of the band’s passion for creating hard-hitting music. Mark Cousins catches up with their musical driving force – Liam Howlett.
Fifteen years in the music business is a long time for any band, but for those working in the field of electronic music, longevity is a quality in even shorter supply. But then Prodigy – and their musical driving force Liam Howlett – aren’t exactly like any other run-of-the-mill dance or electronica outfit. Whereas other bands from the 90s rave scene failed to survive for more than a couple of singles – let alone an album – Prodigy’s love of the Sex Pistols, alongside a need to push musical extremes, has led to them developing significantly further than their first hit, Charly, would ever have suggested.
