Not everyone has access to a great drummer, but we all need great drums. Hollin Jones presents a beginner’s guide to banging beats.

Beats and rhythms are crucial to virtually all kinds of music. They hold things together, providing the framework around which we compose and build other instruments and melodies. Whether it’s played on a kit, a tambourine or a drum machine, the rhythm both drives and gives structure to nearly all forms of music.
