If you’re looking to inject that vital human feel into your Reason tracks, help is at hand. Hollin Jones explores the ReGroove mixer...

The original application of MIDI as a technology was for triggering sound sources such as synths, drum machines and, more recently, workstations. It enabled musicians to create a certain type of feel and style of playing that would influence electronic music forever – the mechanical, robotic regularity of MIDI-triggered parts can be heard on countless records from the early 1980s onwards. It also makes possible the creation of parts that can’t be played by hand, either because they are too fast or too complex.
