The mixer plays a central role in any studio setup – and Reason’s is as well-equipped as any hardware equivalent. Hollin Jones delves into the virtual desk.

Reason was among the fi rst software sequencers to be equipped with a mixer that actually looked more or less like a real hardware mixer. Of course, other software packages included mixers, but they looked and behaved differently from the hardware people were used to – sometimes the only thing they had in common were faders.
