Reason 4 Workshop - Programming Thor
You can never have enough great synth sounds – and Reason’s Thor module means you’ll never run out of ideas. Hollin Jones steals the thunder...

Reason has never been short of synths; indeed, with each major revision it has gained bigger and more complex sound-generating modules. The Thor Polysonic synthesizer, introduced in Reason 4, makes the Subtractor and even the Malström synth look a bit dated (although they are, of course, all fundamentally quite different in the ways that they operate). Thor is semi-modular; its oscillator and filter sections enable you to choose between different oscillator types, mixing and matching as required to yield a huge number of sounds. It also has an onboard step sequencer for making beats or loops, and functions as an audio processing unit when its audio inputs are fed with a signal. Like most of Reason’s modules, it can accept as well as send control voltage (CV) to and from other modules to modulate many different parameters.
