Recording and Processing Guitars in Software
The world of music software is now just as welcoming to guitarists as it is to other musicians and producers, so there’s every reason to dive in and make your guitar tracks the best they can be. Hollin Jones has the lowdown.

Just a few short years ago, most guitarists would probably have thought primarily in terms of hardware when it came to recording and processing their tracks. The guitar and its associated amps and pedals are, of course, at the heart of many players’ studios and live rigs. In recent times, however, more and more software aimed specifically at guitarists has come onto the market, prompting many to mix and match software and hardware in their everyday music-making or even use software as their main tool.
