Sampling is such a common activity in modern music production that it’s largely taken for granted. Whether you’re using vinyl, digital samples from ready-made collections or samples from your own performances, it is an essential technique underpinning many genres of music. There’s also a bewildering array of tools available to help you, from traditional hardware samplers and grooveboxes to software workstations and portable recorders.
