Robert Fripp - Exposure
JoE Silva talks to engineer Ed Sprigg about the making of Robert Fripp’s Exposure.
After seizing the hearts and minds of many a herbalised prog-rocker with King Crimson’s 1969 epic debut In The Court Of The Crimson King, guitarist and principal Crim instigator Robert Fripp began to consciously lurch closer to the mainstream with his solo material. In 1977, he began working on what he referred to as his MOR Trilogy – a series of projects that included collaborative efforts with Peter Gabriel and Daryll Hall. The resulting works, Hall’s Sacred Songs, Peter Gabriel’s second album and Fripp’s Exposure, see all three artists pushing past the boundaries they would eventually be remembered for.
