Step by Step - Creative Sampling
With its new talent for sampling live audio, Reason 5 has become an even more complete production environment. Hollin Jones gets creative.

It’s remarkable to think that Reason is now almost ten years old. As each major overhaul of the software came close to release over those years, fans waited eagerly to see if it was finally going to be able to record audio tracks, like a more conventional DAW. As a result there was never any kind of Cubase- or Pro Tools-style audio recording nor support for third-party plug-ins. Of course, the Swedish company did eventually release Record, which took care of those people who wanted to work a little more traditionally.
