The latest incarnation of Sonar completes a transition that has been under way for some time, according to the developers. While versions 8 and 8.5 saw a lot of under-the hood work – work that was perhaps not immediately obvious to users – Sonar X completely overhauls the user interface, addressing what had been our only real issue with this advanced DAW – its complexity. Not that it isn’t still quite complex – any program this capable is bound to have something of a learning curve – but it is now much easier to use and navigate thanks to clearer and more flexible windowing, design and layout.
