Streets Ahead

Kaiser Chiefs producer Stephen Street has a unique and organic approach to making hit records. Phil Ward tracks him down.

It’s a real sign of the times. While once time-rich musicians idly flicked table tennis balls backwards and forwards during month-long residences at London’s famous Olympic Studios, increasing numbers are now turning to the project studio. Games areas, clearly, are an unnecessary luxury in today’s climate of ‘diversification’.
