Thanks to a global collaborative effort, making music on your computer is getting easier and cheaper. John Mulholland explains.
People all around the world are creating software which instead of selling they are giving away for free. There are communities that span the globe working together. They share ideas, code and information, all to perfect programs that will never be sold. This is known as open source software, and it means that making music with a computer has never been easier.
