It’s widely accepted that surround sound is a more realistic listening experience than any of its predecessors, and everyone from the Hollywood film-maker to the bedroom sound engineer is buying into the fact that surround format recording and reproduction is here to stay. But with an ever-developing array of formats and standards it becomes increasingly difficult to know where to start.
