Tears And A Happy Ending
After the studio excesses of the 80s, Tears For Fears chose a more intimate recording experience for their new album. Phil Ward reports.
It’s been 12 years since Tears For Fears partners Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith wrote and performed together, but following an American concert tour and fertile studio sessions in LA last year they are well and truly back as a duo. This time around, the touring line-up is augmented by top LA musicians and, most especially, one Charlton Pettus – guitarist in the band but also the collaborator and co-producer of a brand new album.
