Delay effects are something that most of us take for granted, but with a little imagination and the right plug-ins you can breathe new life into this often underestimated effect. Mo Volans shows you how.

The majority of us use delay in its most common form for various workhorse tasks during mixing sessions. Whether it’s a stereo delay plug-in inserted on a channel to add space to a particular sound or a global effect on a return channel, it’s likely that we all have our ‘go-to’ plug-ins and presets to get a job done. Many producers and engineers even have basic stereo delay lines already set up as part of a mix template or autoload file.
