The Freeze function in Cubase SX/SL 2.0
Running out of processing power for your Cubase projects? Hollin Jones shows you how the new Freeze feature in SX/SL 2.0 can save your bacon…
The more powerful our computers become, the more complex the things we try to do with them. There’s no upper limit to what we will demand of our machines, and the software always seems to run just ahead of the hardware in terms of processing requirements. This is especially true of music technology, where virtual instruments and effects have, for many people, taken over from hardware. One of the benefits of virtual synths is that they don’t take up very much room, and you can run as many of them as your hardware will support. And that’s the key point – the flexibility of your music production environment depends increasingly on the raw power of your computer.
