Tiger For Musicians
After 18 months in the development jungle, Apple’s new OSX Tiger has finally pounced on the scene. But will it benefit musicians? Hollin Jones goes in for the kill.
It’s hard to believe that Mac OSX was only released in 2001. At the time, it was less than clear what Apple’s motives were in totally rebuilding their operating system from the ground up. OS9, although much loved by many, was starting to show the age of the code that underpinned it. In addition, and in hindsight, it wasn’t nearly as robust a system as one could have hoped for.
