Time stretching in Cubase SX/SL
This month Hollin Jones looks at how Cubase’s Time Stretch function can help you to incorporate diverse samples into your music.
Time stretching is the process of taking an audio sample and changing its duration without changing its pitch. With analogue technology it was, of course, possible to speed things up and down just by playing the tape faster or slower. But the pitch would also change, meaning that the sample, while in time, would be out of tune with the rest of the music.
