VST instruments can help increase the scope of your music-making. Hollin Jones looks at how virtual instruments can expand your studio setup without filling up your studio.
Anyone who makes music with computers will probably be familiar with the VST format. Developed by Steinberg, Virtual Studio Technology is a protocol for adding extra instruments and effects to an audio editing application. By making the VST code available to developers, Steinberg opened the way for many smaller companies and even individuals to make their own instruments and plug-ins that would work with Cubase and other applications.
