Cubase 4.1 Workshop- Media Mgmt Part 1
As systems become increasingly cluttered, knowing how to manage all that audio and MIDI data is vital for efficient workflow. Hollin Jones takes charge.

As Cubase has evolved, it has become capable of dealing with an increasing number of file types, while computer hard drives are able to store increasingly large amounts of data. Computer-based production in the past may have involved just a few MIDI files and some digital audio, but nowadays there are many other data sources and formats to work with, including digital video, samples and instruments and effect plug-ins and presets. Of these, samples and VST presets are perhaps the most ubiquitous, and to help you manage what may be an unwieldy collection of resources, Cubase utilises a system called VST Sound. Essentially, this is a data management utility that encompasses MediaBay and VST3 presets and provides a way to search, manage and access information quickly.
