Almost eight years ago, when Digidesign unveiled the Digi 001, the world of Pro Tools was to change forever. Until that time, Pro Tools had been an exclusively ‘professional’ system, requiring thousands of pounds’ worth of breakout boxes, Farm cards and a suitably expensive Mac to run it on. The Digi 001, however, introduced the concept of Pro Tools LE, which had a feature set that was almost identical to the full-blown system, and by attaching the 001 to a PCI card in a G3, anyone could enjoy the benefits of a Pro Tools studio in the comfort of their own living room.
