When the 01V96 was launched to replace the ageing 01V we were resolute in our praise, claiming that the new model brought so many new features it deserved to be compared to the larger and more expensive 03D (now discontinued and superseded by the DM1000). Yamaha took a more reserved approach to its second upgrade of the 01V96 platform, improving and enhancing the software rather than adding and replacing features wholesale.
