Helios was launched in 1969 by the late Dick Swettenham, an ex-EMI designer who went on to build the legendarily wonderful mixing desk at Olympic Studios. Such was his reputation, he was persuaded to leave Olympic (by Chris Blackwell of Island Records) and build desks for others. Clients included The Rolling Stones, who based their popular Stones Mobile studio around a Helios, and The Beatles, who installed one at their Apple Studios.
