Whether in the studio or at a gig, one of the primary tasks of the sound engineer is the creation of a decent monitor mix. It’s absolutely essential if you want to get the best performance from the musicians. The ideal solution would be the ability to send any number of different mixes to various destinations – after all, the balance required by, say, a vocalist is likely to be significantly different from that which the drummer needs to hear.
