Native Instruments Abbey Road Modern Drums
NI has already delivered various vintage kits, but this pack offers an up-to-date drum sound. Mark Cousins takes a listen.

Native Instruments’ Abbey Road Drums series should need little in the way of introduction, with reviews of previous instalments – the 60s-, 70s- and 80s-flavoured versions – appearing in MTM over the last few months. The latest – and arguably the last – edition is the aptly titled Abbey Road Modern Drums, which discards the vintage feel of the older kits (including the roomy 60s sound, super-tight 70s kit and authentic gated reverb on the 80s Drums) and instead focuses on a contemporary approach to drum recording, complete with the distinctive acoustic of Abbey Road’s Studios Two and Three.
Score: 9
