Absynth is one of the longest-serving members of Native Instruments’ product line-up and one of the few software synthesizers that can deservedly be called a ‘classic’. Although originally written by Brian Clevenger, Absynth has flourished under Native Instruments’ direction, incorporating an everexpanding array of cutting-edge features, including granular synthesis and fractal waveform manipulation to name but two. As a result, Absynth is renowned for its unusual and evocative sound palette and has become a mainstay of film soundtrack and TV composition as well as more experimental forms of dance music.
Score: 10
