With so many studios now operating without a traditional mixer, it was somewhat inevitable that the humble mic preamp would become one of the most desirable – if not essential – pieces of kit to have in a project studio. Indeed, this situation is arguably made even more pronounced by the fact that the majority of FireWire audio interfaces seem to compromise on the number or quality of the preamps they include.
