There are undeniable visual similarities between Blue and Violet microphones – and it seems there’s a story behind this. When Blue microphones arrived on the scene, they were promoted as being made in Latvia – which, for many recording engineers, inspired more confidence than the slightly hit-and-miss Chinese microphones of the era.
