IK Multimedia Ampeg SVX
IK has teamed up with Ampeg to bring bassists a wealth of sonic possibilities. Mike Hillier gets to the bottom of it...

Bassists have had to wait while guitarists and keyboard players enjoyed the delights of software emulation. Of course, they could always use software intended for guitarists to get similar results, but until now achieving anything in the same ball park as a good studio bass amp sound without the real thing meant using hardware gear such as Line 6’s Bass PODxt. IK Multimedia’s Ampeg SVX attempts to change this by utilising the audio engine from the company’s AmpliTube 2 to re-create a selection of four of the best Ampeg bass guitar amp heads, six Ampeg bass amp cabinets, six microphones and eight bass stompbox effects.
Score: 9
