It’s official: retro is cool. The appetite among musicians and producers for quality analogue sounds shows no sign of waning. But anyone who has tried to find – let alone buy – a real vintage synth in good working order will testify that it can be next to impossible. Often produced only in limited numbers, relatively few of the electronic behemoths of the 1970s have survived intact. Any that do surface tend to be snapped up for considerable sums.
Score: 9
