Nomad Factory Blue Tubes 2
Blue Tubes was born from a yearning for the valve-driven warmth of vintage hardware. Alistair Lindsay plugs in.

The second edition of Blue Tubes marks a bit of a milestone for its developer, Nomad Factory. The company was formed back in 2001 by engineer and producer Bernie Torelli, who had been unable to find any plug-ins that could replace his tried and trusty tube hardware, the majority of which was of a 1960s and 70s vintage. So, drawing on 25 years of valve-based studio experience, Torelli endeavoured to program his own set of software plug-ins as a way of getting round the problem – and Blue Tubes was born.
Score: 9
