The catchily named Broadhurst Gardens No 7 is based on classic signal processors and preamps built by Decca Records in the 70s. Mark Cousins gets digging.

Formed by Mick Hinton, a former engineer for Decca Records, DAV Electronics has developed a range of functional but nevertheless impressive preamps and signal processors under the Broadhurst Gardens moniker. Certainly, if DAV Electronics client list (which includes Dave Gilmour, Mark Knopfl er and Metropolis Studios) is anything to go, it seems that the Broadhurst Gardens series has been well received by the music industry. Surprisingly, however, the range is quite reasonably priced – at least by comparison to other ‘boutique’ preamps and signal processors.
