CME GPP-3
Is CME’s GPP-3 the ultimate foot controller for the budding concert pianist? Mark Cousins puts the pedal to the metal.

CME has developed a range of visually striking controller keyboards with a healthy collection of hands-on controls. This latest offering, though, sees the company focus it attentions on the keyboardist’s feet – the GPP-3 is a three-pedal controller designed to replicate the pedals found on a typical grand piano. Given that most musicians tend to opt for a single sustain-style pedal, the GPP-3 is an ambitious project to say the least, but given that an increasing number of virtual pianos now support a range of pedalling options (including a soft pedal, sostenuto and sustain), it’s maybe time to consider something more expressive than an ‘on and off’ foot controller.
