Digidesign Command 8
A knob in the hand is worth two on the screen – or so manufacturers of hardware controllers sometimes claim. With fingers on faders, Bob Dormon gives orders to Digidesign’s Command|8.
Price: £952.00
Manufacturer: Digidesign

Designed to work with Pro Tools LE and TDM systems, the Digidesign Command|8 is a tactile control surface that looks a bit like the Digi 002 but without the multi-channel audio interfacing. Speckled with function switches, transport keys, a handful of knobs and eight motorised faders, the unit certainly looks the part. Visual feedback centres around the 2x55-character LCD screen and the channel metering, plus a myriad collection of status LED indicators. Linked via USB 1.1 to the host computer, it mirrors many Pro Tools software features, so that changes made on the Command|8 simultaneously occur onscreen and vice versa.
