So what, exactly, is spectral morphing additive synthesis? Even if you’ve read our Ten Minute Master series on synthesis you may still be wondering. VirSyn’s CUBE has additive synthesis at its core, which means that sounds are created simply by adding together hundreds of sine waves. The spectral morphing bit describes how it changes the settings of one source in relation to those of another – all in real time. The software has many unique features and solves the traditional problems of additive synthesis in several innovative ways.
