Korg D3200
With up to 32 tracks and a host of recording features, does Korg’s D3200 set a new standard for the personal multitrack recorder? Mark Cousins finds out.
Price: £999.00
Manufacturer: Korg
Website: http://www.korg.co.uk

Up until the release of Korg’s new D3200, the personal multitrack recorder market was firmly divided into three distinct camps: ‘budget’ 8-track recorders, high-resolution ‘pro’ machines capable of 24 or more tracks, and – for a more realistic balance between price and performance – the sub-£1,000 16-track recorders. However, following hot on the heels of Yamaha’s latest AW1600, Korg has made the bold move of doubling the assumed track count for this price bracket, offering a whopping 32 tracks of 16-bit, 44.1kHz playback. Add to this the inclusion of integral CD burning, insert and send effects alongside a new Session Drums feature, and the D3200 could be one of the most complete studio solutions yet for under £1,000.
