Tascam DR-680
Can Tascam’s new portable provide pro-quality eight-track recording on the move? Mike Willox investigates.
Price: £939.00
Manufacturer: Tascam
Website: http://www.tascam.co.uk

Recording at high quality on the move used to be, until recently, an expensive business. Before the widespread availability of solid-state recorders, the digital solution was the DAT tape, and Tascam was one of the leaders in the field with its DAP-1 portable DAT recorder. Although there was no timecode option, the phantom powered XLR inputs allowed for fantastic location recording at a price point well below the machines normally used for sound in film and television.
Score: 7
