When Simmons shut its doors and hung up a ‘closed’ notice in the window back in 1989, it would have been a very brave man to have predicted a resurgence of interest in electronic drums. For much of the 1990s, electronic percussion simply dropped off the radar as far as most people were concerned, and few drummers would even admit to owning electronic kits, let alone playing them.
