Live sound mixing is one of the most enjoyable fields to work in as a sound engineer, but achieving a great stage sound can often require as much gear as a well-equipped studio – and you don’t have the luxury of plug-ins or automation to help you out. To make things a little easier for you, manufacturers of live mixers are now incorporating additional functionality into their products to create all-in-one solutions. Yamaha’s latest powered mixer – the EMX5016CF – takes this idea a step further, adding a considerable degree of signal processing power to an already well-spec’ed 16-channel mixer that’s capable of pumping out 500 watts per channel.
