Given the dramatic fall in sales of CDs over the last ten years, it’s no surprise to find many musicians turning to the world of media-based music as a means of forging a sustainable career. Whether it’s soundtrack work for film, music for computer games or sound design for the web, it appears that music is arguably most lucrative when it’s allied to pictures. In tandem with this move there’s also been a growing number of products directly aimed at media composers, including Project SAM’s Symphobia and Spectrasonics’ Omnisphere and Stylus RMX.
