Many modern software plug-in processors offer a large degree of visual feedback and tweakable parameters. But do we really need so much control and are we using our eyes to mix more than our ears? These were questions raised when we reviewed Toontrack’s EZmix plug-in earlier this year. The software crams in 16 different effects and processors including EQ, compressor, reverb, delay, tape simulation, distortion and bitcrush, with a range of presets that provide only three controls for tweaking the sound.
