Let’s face it: recording volume fades and other automation data is a tedious business using a mouse – and it’s not that much easier if you opt to draw in the data instead. Neither method is very intuitive or ergonomic, but if you can’t afford an expensive Mackie control surface for your DAW, there hasn’t really been a viable alternative – until now. Enter FaderPort, from PreSonus, which aims to put the feel and spontaneity back into music recording with its motorised fader, push-button transport controls, hands-on pan control and various other useful features.
