For a while it seemed that everyone from Moby to the most obscure electronic touring outfits felt compelled to haul one of those behemoth Triton keyboards out on the road with them. It was akin to having a huge Marshall stack alongside you on-stage, and for a while its supremacy in the keyboard workstation market appeared almost unassailable. But Roland launched its counter attack back in the summer of 2001, with the unveiling of the first of its Fantom series of workstations, which has now grown to include the Fantom-X fleet of sampling keyboards.
