Despite the fact that high-end analogue recording consoles – the likes of Neve and SSL – remain a common sight in professional studios, the humble project studio owner works pretty much in the digital world, recording, mixing and sometimes mastering within the confines of a DAW. The benefits of such a system, of course, are enormous – not to mention extremely cost-efficient – but there are also inevitable drawbacks.
