With speeds of up to 400Mbps (Million Bits Per Second), FireWire is an ideal protocol for connecting audio interfaces with computer recording equipment. Because of its high bandwidth, FireWire enables audio interface developers to fit large numbers of input and output options onto their devices. PreSonus’ Firepod is a silver 1U design with a ten-by-ten interface offering eight analogue inputs and eight analogue outputs, with S/PDIF In/Out providing two further channels. The Firepod also features MIDI In and MIDI Out sockets to complete its connectivity options.
