Now in its tenth revision, Sound Forge is firmly established as a stalwart of audio production, providing a range of audio-editing and file-management features that makes it an adept performer in a range of post-production environments. While a traditional DAW will always be the first choice for multitrack recording and mixing, audio editors like Sound Forge specialise in an altogether different set of audio activities, from the ability to batchprocess multiple files to sophisticated spectral analysis and offline processing. Although somewhat unglamorous, these tools are essential for tasks such as sound design, mastering or DVD authoring and have made Sound Forge an indispensable tool in these situations.
