Funk Guitarist combines a samples collection of funk guitar sounds with a complex sequencer built-in to the Kontakt 4 engine. To record the library Scarbee tested five different guitars and six different sets of pickups before eventually settling on one highly customised setup with independent outputs for each of the three pickups. While samples from all three are included, the user can choose only from the three most common pickup positions: MB (middle and bridge), NM (neck and middle) and N (neck). The chords, slides, mutes and other articulations were sliced up from musically relevant pieces performed by guitarist Søren Reiff in order to retain a more musical feel, rather than simply asking the guitarist to perform each chord and articulation individually out of context.
